What information will I get from an Agent Search?

An Agent Search allows you to access up to date information for Motor Vehicles, Caravans, Trailers and Vessels registered in Queensland via a Current or Point In Time Registration Search.


What information will I get from a Current Registration Search?

A Current Registration Search provides valid registration information for Motor Vehicles, Caravans, Trailers and Vessels registered in Queensland.

A result includes:

  • Customer Reference Number, also called a CRN, allocated by Queensland Transport to their customers (in this case a registered owner).
  • a juvenile flag (N if the registered owner is over 18).
  • the registered owner's name, address and gender.
  • the registered owner's date of birth and contact details for authorised users.
  • the registered owner's ABN qualification details.
  • registration details including Registration Category, Registration Status, Registration Expiry Date, Payment Mode, Payment Term (months), CTP Insurance Class & CTP Insurer.
  • vehicle details including the VIN, Engine Number, Make, Model Code, Body Shape, Fuel Type, Number of Cylinders, Steering Mechanism and Tare (kg).

What information will I get from a Point In Time Registration Search?

A Point In Time Registration Search provides valid registration information for Motor Vehicles, Caravans, Trailers and Vessels registered in Queensland on a specified prior date*.

A result includes:

  • Customer Reference Number, also called a CRN, allocated by Queensland Transport to their customers (in this case a registered owner).
  • a juvenile flag (N if the registered owner is over 18).
  • the registered owner's name, address and gender.
  • the registered owner's date of birth and contact details for authorised users.
  • the registered owner's ABN qualification details.
  • registration details including Registration Category, Registration Status, Registration Expiry Date, Payment Mode, Payment Term (months), CTP Insurance Class & CTP Insurer.
  • vehicle details including the VIN, Engine Number, Make, Model Code, Body Shape, Fuel Type, Number of Cylinders, Steering Mechanism and Tare (kg).

* Online searches can only be done for dates after 9 June 1998.


Can I do a Point In Time Registration Search for a date prior to 9 June 1998?

What is the correct format for a Vehicle Registration Number?

Vehicle registration numbers can have up to six alpha-numeric characters in any combination, e.g. ABC123. Do not enter spaces or hyphens (-) within the registration number.


How long will it take to receive my results?

The approximate turnaround time for these results is 10 business days.


Can I search on a Dealer Plate?

Can I search on a Personalised Plate?

What is the correct format for a Ship Registration Number?

Ship registration numbers have six characters and the sequence is always 2 letters, 3 numbers and the letter Q, e.g. AB123Q.


Can I find out if the vehicle has more than one registered owner?

Yes. The results returned for each registration number will show a Primary Registered Operator and, if applicable, a Secondary Registered Operator. The details for both operators will be displayed.


Why are no registration details returned for some plates?

Some registration details are not available due to the nature of their ownership, for example, Queensland Police vehicles will not display registration details.


How long should I keep my supporting documents for?

You may be audited by Queensland Transport at any time and required to produce supporting documents for specified searches. You must keep all supporting documents for at least 2 years.


What are the Penalty Units mentioned in the online Declaration?

Penalty Units are a way of standardising fines. Under the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 the value of a penalty unit is set at a dollar value that can only be changed by legislation. As of 1 July 2000 the dollar value of 1 penalty unit is $75.00.
