What information will I get from a Title Search?

This search will produce a copy of a Record of Certificate of Title, Crown Lease, Land Records, or Memorial Book. You may search for a Title using a Volume/Folio (Title Reference) (sample).

Where possible a successful search may return details such as:

  • The Land Description
  • The Registered Proprietor
  • Limitations, Interests, Encumbrances and Notifications
  • The Previous Title Number
  • The Sketch of Land Reference
  • The Property Street Address
  • The Local Government Area
  • A copy of the Sketch/Plan (except for Digital Titles or Strata Plans)

What search criteria should I use to perform a Title Search?

A Volume/Folio will need to be entered, up to ten of which can be included at a time. The Volume/Folio (Title Reference) is the unique identifier allocated to each Title. You can perform a Name Search to retrieve the Volume/Folio if you do not have these details.

The format for entering a Volume/Folio should be: 

  • a numeric volume number up to five digits
  • followed by a "space", "/" or "-"
  • followed by numeric folio number up to five digits 
  • optionally followed by the letter “a” (this suffix must not be present for LR or CL formats)

How long should it take for results to be returned?

Most results will be available within minutes. However, if a search requires manual processing, results may take up to three business days to be returned.


How do I view the results?

Real-time results will be displayed on screen within minutes and are also available from the CITEC Confirm Inbox.  However, manually processed results will be sent to your nominated email address.


Where are results stored?

Real-time results are stored in the CITEC Confirm Inbox for 30 days after the search was performed. As manually processed results are sent to your nominated email address, they are not stored in the CITEC Confirm Inbox.
